All the words in this section
are as spoken by Swamiji. Reading them carefully and trying to understand
them deeply will bring about a radical change within us. When we
transform inside, the outside transforms automatically.
Work towards Enlightenment!
(Taken from Swamiji's farewell address at the ashram, Bangalore
before leaving for the world tour Mar '05)
The above words mean:
I surrender to Buddha,
I surrender to Dhamma - the preachings of Buddha,
I surrender to the Sangam or instituition created by Buddha.
The first surrender is easy to do. When you see a Master, you feel
a certain faith and belief in you. It happens automatically and
there is nothing special in this. Remember one thing - when you
surrender to me, you are not doing me any favour; you are
doing yourself a favour.
The second surrender is to the preachings of the Master. My saying
- Be Blissful, is my teaching. It is my dhamma.
You have to live it. Here starts the problem! You all sometimes
feel that what I say does not seem practical. Be very clear - whatever
I say is always practical, I will never say anything impractical.
The third is surrendering to the Master's instituition. This is
the most difficult out of the three. I am not leaving you now and
going away, I am going to live in each of my disciples. I am going
to dissolve in them. Buddha produced 10,000 Masters when he lived.
This he did without cellphones, television, radio, internet or microphone
- just by walking and preaching. Imagine then how many Masters we
can produce!
Masters are not their body. They are concepts or Energy. I get
Energy because of my movement, not because of the food that I eat.
Enlightened people never take bodies to fulfil karma because
they don't have any karma. They take birth out of sheer
compassion for people - to kindle the spirit in them. The longevity
of a Master is determined by the intensity and speed of His mission,
which is the very purpose of His Birth.
I live more in my words or movement than in my body. Instead of
trying to be around me all the time, if you try to work towards
enlightenment, I will come behind you! I will fall in love with
you! Fall intensely for Enlightenment. Don't think that if you build
the Ananda Sabha in the ashram, I will fall for you. Ananda Sabha
is a spiritual laboratory, that's all. What you really need to do
is become the scientist! When you are building the laboratory, the
interest to become the scientist should be awakened in you. You
should feel that you want to become Enlightened. Grab my words!
The transformation will then automatically happen inside you.
Only 33% of my Energy is in my body. The remaining 66% is in my
dhamma and sangam. If you feel my Energy in my
dhamma and sangam, you will never miss me. It
is this that will inspire you to become enlightened.
