Kancheepuram ashram, India
In Kancheepuram, Tamilnadu, Swamiji inaugurated the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam ashram by doing the bhoomi pooja (worship to Mother Earth), laying the first bricks and unveiling the foundation stone on 24 Nov 2006.
He declared that this ashram will function as the Shakti Peetam (Seat of the Divine Mother). The ashram will be laid out exactly like the sacred holy town of Tiruvannamalai and birthplace of Swamiji. The center will bear the shrine, meditation hall and other common utilities, and around it, in 4 concentric squares will be streets dotted with the residential cottages, all having the same elevation.
The ashram is currently planned to house 100 ashramite families, out of which more than 50 have already registered.
