Each Hindu God has its own
vahana or vehicle. It is believed that through this
vahana, the God works and expresses its divine powers and functions on and in worlds and planes below the sphere or world or plane in which it itself lives.
For example, the four legs of the Rishabha stand for truth, righteousness, peace and love. The two horns represent devotion and steadfastness. The
Rishabha symbolises: whatever happens, I will not lose my faith.
Vahanas are made of wood and painted with attractive colours. They symbolise the grand truths and virtues and create great festivity when the deities ride on them on special sacred occasions.
